Under the theme: The role of research in blue food and nutrition security
The fisheries and aquaculture sector plays a vital role in providing affordable food and nutrition. During the last few years, the sector showed a constant and significant increase in the contribution of commercial and industrial aquaculture to global food production. More than 2,500 species of fish, shellfish, aquatic plants and algae are cultivated globally for food, providing livelihoods for more than 100 million people. The global demand for blue food is expected to double by 2050, primarily due to the growing purchasing power of the expanding population. Feeding an expected global population of 9 billion by 2050 is a hugely important and daunting challenge that is engaging farmers, food processors, technical experts, and researchers among others.
After the overwhelming success of the inaugural event in 2021, we are eager to bring together the leading academic scientists, researchers, researchers scholars, industry leaders and experts, for another enriching experience.
The conference’s objectives
- Bringing together industry experts, researchers, and professionals in the field of marine biology, fisheries and aquaculture to exchange and share their knowledge, experience and research results.
- Providing a valuable platform to explore the latest advancements in aquaculture feed, integrated aquaculture systems, sustainable aquaculture and fisheries and marine biology.
- Providing opportunities for PhD students in these fields to present and publish their work.
- Providing a networking platform for students currently enrolled in a PhD or Master’s degree programs and helping them achieve their research and academic goals
- Providing opportunities for students to present their creations pertaining to the conference themes in a variety of formats during the Students Conference and Exhibit Day.
- Providing a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among experts in the field
- Reviewing national issues and identifiing some of the main challenges and opportunities in the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Morocco.
